New businesses open in Montevallo

MONTEVALLO – The Montevallo Chamber of Commerce welcomed two new businesses to the city with ribbon cuttings Jan. 10.
Heath and Michael Klinner opened Montevallo Building and Supply, which was formerly Holcombe Building Supply, on Alabama 25.
The store offers everything from hunting supplies to building supplies, from hardware to paint. The Klinners wanted to reopen the business and be a “general hardware store,” said Chamber Chair Director Susan Fulmer.
Heath Klinner said he felt the town needed a business like Montevallo Building and Supply. The store opened on Dec. 1, but an official grand opening will be in March.
“More than anything, we offer service,” Klinner said. “We cater to DIY, or do-it-yourself projects.”
Klinner, who is an electrician by trade, said he and his staff know how to fix many of the problems customers ask about, but if they can’t help, they know “good, reputable contractors” to recommend.
The second ribbon was cut at Personally Yours and Mine, a boutique located on Montevallo’s Main Street. Krystal Fochtmann opened the shop in November, and she sells primarily Avon products but the story is not an Avon franchise.
“We carry other stuff, too,” Fotchmann said. “(Opening the store) just seemed like a good idea.”
Fotchmann’s mother, Gloria Haygood, was an Avon representative for 15 years and acquired products. The duo now sells products for a price lower than regular price, but above the sales price.
“On this block, every available storefront is filled,” said Mary Lou Williams, president of the Montevallo Chamber. “You can tell by the number of cars on the street that people are interested in these businesses. We’re proud to have them in Montevallo.”
