Eagles sweep pair of wrestling matches

The Oak Mountain High School wrestling team swept a pair of matches against host Clay-Chalkville and Homewood in high school wrestling action Jan. 12.
Oak Mountain defeated host Clay-Chalkville 59-22. Ten Eagles won individual matches against Clay-Chalkville.
John David (J.D.) Peden of Oak Mountain pinned Noah Jones of Clay-Chalkville in the 103-pound match. Trigg Langner of Oak Mountain pinned Kedrick Benson of Clay-Chalkville in the 113-pound match.
Jared Godfrey of Oak Mountain earned a technical fall over Zachary Clough of Clay-Chalkville in the 126-pound match. Angus McBee of Oak Mountain pinned Justin Moore of Clay-Chalkville in the 138-pound match.
Jacob Darty of Oak Mountain pinned Brandon Wood of Clay-Chalkville in the 152-pound match. Sam Hix of Oak Mountain pinned Tyon Hardy of Clay-Chalkville in the 195-pound match.
Christopher Richmond of Oak Mountain pinned DeShaun Motley of Clay-Chalkville in the 220-pound match. Billy Dasher of Oak Mountain pinned Josh Melton of Clay-Chalkville in the heavyweight match.
Josh Gaines of Oak Mountain won his 170-pound match. Vincent Kimbrough of Oak Mountain in the 182-pound match.
The Eagles defeated Homewood 72-9 in a match Jan. 12. Twelve Oak Mountain wrestlers won individual matches against Homewood.
McBee pinned Noah Sanders of Homewood in the 138-pound match. Will Franklin of Oak Mountain pinned Davis Talley of Homewood in 4:00 in the 145-pound match.
Gaines pinned Jakeb Glaser of Homewood in the 160-pound match. Kimbrough pinned Carlos Esparza of Homewood in 2:00 in the 170-pound match.
Evan Webb of Oak Mountain pinned Carlos Smith of Homewood in the 182-pound match.
Peden won his 106-pound match by forfeit. Langner won his 113-pound match by forfeit. Jordan Allen won his 120-pound match by forfeit.
Godfrey won his 126-pound match by forfeit. Stephen Chandler won his 132-pound match by forfeit.
Hix won his 195-pound match by forfeit. Richmond won his 220-pound match by forfeit.
