The Shelby County High School girls’ basketball team defeated rival Chelsea 67-45 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 contest Jan. 13.

Aulicia Nunn led the Wildcats (17-4 overall, 5-1 in Class 5A, Area 7) with 26 points in the victory.

Keyanna Gayden and Ashley Mizzell added 10 points each in the win.

Amanda Mock led Chelsea (8-11 overall, 2-3 in Class 5A, Area 7) with 15 points. Allie Luster added 10 points.

BOYS

The Chelsea High School boys’ basketball team defeated rival Shelby County 55-52 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 contest Jan. 13.

D.D. Washington led the Hornets (9-11 overall, 3-2 in Class 5A, Area 7) with 30 points in the victory. Washington also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Jake Ganus added 14 points. Quinten Wilson chipped in four points.

Tyler Madison led Shelby County (7-15 overall, 1-5 in Class 5A, Area 7) with a game-high 34 points. Madison also pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

Brandon McKinney added 11 points.
