The Briarwood Christian School boys’ basketball team defeated Shelby County 60-41 in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 contest Jan. 20.

Jason Laatsch led the Lions (13-11 overall, 2-4 in Class 5A, Area 7) with a game-high 27 points in the victory.

Raymond Woods added 13 points in the win.

Tyler Madison led Shelby County (7-16 overall, 1-6 in Class 5A, Area 7) with 23 points.

GIRLS

The Briarwood Christian School girls’ basketball team defeated Shelby County in an Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 contest Jan. 20.

Cara Medders and Samantha Swords led the Lions (17-4 overall, 6-0 in Class 5A, Area 7) with 12 points each in the victory.

Aulicia Nunn led Shelby County (17-5 overall, 5-2 in Class 5A, Area 7) with 14 points. Hallie Brown added 12 points.
