Lightning defeat rival Hope Christian

The Evangel Christian School girls’ basketball team defeated rival Hope Christian 33-19 in an Alabama Christian Sports Conference contest Jan. 20.

Rainey Ketcham led the Lightning (10-1) with a game-high 16 points in the victory. Ketcham, who registered a team-high five steals, also grabbed a team-high 12 rebounds to finish with a double-double.

Lacey Entrekin added eight points and nine rebounds in the win. Whitney Thorpe chipped in four points and nine rebounds.

Brooke Machen paced Hope Christian with six points.

BOYS

The Evangel Christian School boys’ basketball team remained undefeated following a 67-38 win over rival Hope Christian School in an Alabama Christian Sports Conference contest Jan. 20.

Judson Motes led the Lightning (14-0) with a game-high 19 points in the victory.

DaJon Townson added 15 points. Adam Gurley chipped in 10 points in the win.

Evangel Christian made a team-high eight 3-pointers in the victory, including three 3-pointers from Motes, two each from Gurley and Jonathan Parker and one from Townson.

Pete Thomason led Hope Christian with nine points.
