NWS: Tornadoes, hail possible overnight Jan. 22

The National Weather Service in Calera is warning of possible tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail overnight on Jan. 22 and into the morning hours of Jan. 23.
According to a statement issued by the NWS on Jan. 22, a line of “significant severe weather” could begin passing through Shelby County as early as 8 p.m., and could last through the night. According to the NWS, the main threat for Shelby County will be overnight after 9 p.m.
The severe weather could last into the morning hours of Jan. 23, but should move out of the county by 10 a.m., according to the NWS statement.
