The Thompson High School wrestling team finished fifth Jan. 21 in the Patriot Duals at Homewood High School.

The Warriors defeated Oak Grove, Hueytown, Hoover, Minor and Pinson Valley in the Patriot Duals, while dropping a match against Vestavia Hills.

Mario Haynes and Brandon Belser led Thompson with four pins each.

Kolby Newton and Nick Gentile added three pins each. Conner Gilson and Justin Byrd finished with two pins each.

Tyler Lacey, Jacobi Dial, Gavin Green, Brewer Gilliland, Shane Evans, Joseph Mayhall, Nick Gillaspie, Luke Moore, Jacob Mayhall and John Ross Mayhall contributed one pin each.

Calera came in 14th overall in team standings.

Kevin Murry and Coby Mize led the Eagles with five pins each.

Cody Thomaston added two pins. Jaylin Washington, Kennan Agee, Hunter Alexander and Danny Diaz posted one pin each.

Chelsea finished 16th overall in team standings.

David Downard led the Hornets with four pins.

Zakary Van Der Geest added two pins. Michael Early, Austin Chadwick and Michael Waller contributed one pin each.
