The Chelsea High School boys’ basketball team defeated Montevallo 62-49 in high school basketball action Jan. 24.

D.D. Washington led the Hornets (13-12) with 17 points in the victory. Washington also grabbed a team-high eight rebounds.

Jake Ganus added 15 points in the win.

Garrius Chappell led Montevallo (8-13) with a game-high 18 points.

Korey Cunningham added nine points to go along with five rebounds and eight blocked shots.

GIRLS

The Chelsea High School girls’ basketball team defeated Montevallo 56-44 in high school basketball action Jan. 24.

Allie Luster led the Hornets (9-12) with 15 points in the victory. Luster also recorded a team-high six steals.

Nwando Anwah added 10 points and a team-high eight rebounds in the win.

Kiah Smith led Montevallo (5-15) with a game-high 27 points.
