Parker Loren Morris

Parker Loren Morris, 17, cherished sister, daughter, granddaughter and friend, passed away Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, in Alabaster. Parker was born May 24, 1994, at Brookwood Medical Center in Birmingham. She attended Calera High School and worked at Pizza Hut, where she was selected Employee of the Month.

She is survived by her sister, Sydney Morris of New Orleans, La.; mother, Elaine D. Walton of Calera; father, Charles Morris of San Diego, Calif.; uncle Daryl Walton (Tracy) of Orange Beach; grandparents, Wanda Posey (Joey) of Calera; Ronnie Walton (Sheila) of Foley; cousins Amanda and Nicole Walton; and special friends Terry Cleckler of Clanton and Scotty Free of Pell City; and extended family and friends too numerous to count.

Parker was a truly gifted artist who was incredibly smart and had a hilariously awesome sense of humor. The family wishes to thank the MICU staff at Shelby Baptist for providing outstanding care, with special thanks to Tim and Janet for their gentle guidance with helping Parker carry out her wish to be an organ donor. Because of Parker’s selfless decision, another 17 year old will have a second chance to live.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parker Morris Memorial Fund at any Central State bank with the express purpose of erecting a public memorial in her honor.

An informal Celebration of Life service will be held at Christian Life Fellowship Church, located at 7374 Highway 31 in Calera, on Saturday, Jan. 28, beginning at 1 p.m. Friends and family are asked to bring pictures, videos, mementos, stories, etc., to contribute to the celebration of her life. Elaine asks Parker’s friends and classmates to write down any special event, story, joke or situation for the creation of a book about her life. Parker would request casual clothing be worn, but it is not required, lol. We love you, Parker! Final care and arrangements entrusted to the Ellison-Mims Funeral Home of Clanton.
