Cecil Rudolph Falkner Jr.
Pea Ridge
Cecil Rudolph Falkner Jr. of Pea Ridge went home to be with the Lord on Thursday morning, Jan. 26, 2012, surrounded by his family.
A lifetime resident of Shelby County, Cecil, 81, was born on Sept. 19, 1930. He served a tour of duty with the U.S. Army. In 1982, he retired from U.S. Steel after 33 years of dedicated service.
Cecil is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sarah Thacker Falkner, and their four children, Ricky Falkner (Donna), Allen Falkner (Kris), Annette Bullard (Mike) and Darryl Falkner (Terri); 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tommy Falkner (Shirley) and Ronald Falkner (Debra).
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil R. Falkner Sr. and Pearl Bristow Falkner Byram; one sister, Martha Falkner Henry; and two brothers, Jimmy Falkner and Larry Falkner.
Those who knew Cecil best will always remember his love of everything chocolate, especially chocolate pie. And who could forget his friendly greeting of “Hey, Pal!” His favorite hobby involved anything with nuts, bolts and grease. He liked to buy other peoples discarded treasures, and, as Cecil would always say …”I’ll fix it like brand new!” He was a great provider for his family, and was always there when you needed him.
Services were held on Sunday, Jan. 29 at Charter Funeral Home in Calera. Burial followed at Nabors Cemetery, Alabaster. Hey, Pal … we will miss you!
