The Briarwood Christian School boys’ basketball team defeated Shelby County 27-25 in overtime in its Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 5A, Area 7 tournament opener Feb. 7.

Raymond Woods led the Lions (15-14) with a game-high 12 points in the victory.

Devin Bowman added 10 points in the win. David Loveless contributed three points.

Jason Laatsch, who became the school’s all-time leading scorer in a 39-38 win over Vincent on Feb. 3, was limited to two points.

Tyler Madison led Shelby County (9-20) with 11 points.
