CHELSEA – Nationally recognized Christian music artist Babbie Mason will lead local women in worship on Feb. 10.

Liberty Baptist Church in Chelsea holds a women’s worship event each year, and 2012 is the fifth year for the event. In celebration of five years, the church’s women’s ministry decided to find a guest star with a big name.

“(Five years ago,) I felt God was giving me this idea to have a worship event for just women. The initial part was just to come and worship our Lord and Savior,” said Angela Laughlin, the leader of LBC’s women’s ministry team. “In the midst, started researching singers and songwriters that could come encourage us. We wanted to bring in someone that’s bigger than we’ve ever done. Someone brought up the idea to have Babbie.”

Mason holds a women’s worship event called “Embrace,” which is the theme she’ll bring to the Chelsea church.

“It’s about embracing God’s will for our lives as a women, as a daughter, mom, sister, at our church, at our home and at our work,” Laughlin said. “What as women are we supposed to be doing and what is God’s will for our life? She’s challenging us to embrace God’s will for our lives, our individual lives.”

Liberty Baptist Church is located at 11050 Chelsea Road in Chelsea. The doors open at 5:30 p.m., and light refreshments will be available in the church’s fellowship hall. The worship event will begin at 6:45 p.m. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. For more information, call the church office at 678-9928.
