FROM STAFF REPORTS

The University of Montevallo women’s basketball team would like to turn Bank Trust Arena pink on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 1:30 p.m. for its annual Play4Kay breast cancer awareness game.

The Falcons will honor cancer survivors at the game and will also be hosting a silent auction, with the proceeds going to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Some of the items featured in the auction are hotel stays, movie tickets and autographed University of Alabama apparel.

The Falcons will be taking on Peach Belt Conference rival Georgia College and State University and would like all the Falcon supporters to wear pink to the game.

If you are a cancer survivor and would like to attend the game, please contact the women’s basketball coaching staff either by phone at 665-6600 or by e-mail at hilbrich@montevallo.edu to be put on the pass list. If you would like a loved one to be honored who lost their battle with the disease, you can also contact the coaching staff to have their name put on the list.

Play4Kay is a global, unified effort for a nation of coaches to assist in raising breast cancer awareness on the court, across campuses, in communities and beyond. The Kay Yow Cancer Fund, in partnership with the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association and The V Foundation, is the official Play4Kay charity.
