Westminster tops American Christian in season opener

The Westminster School at Oak Mountain boys’ tennis team opened its season with a 7-2 victory over American Christian in high school tennis action Feb. 10.

The Knights won five of the six singles’ matches and two of the three doubles’ matches.

Mark McClure of Westminster defeated Colton Bradford 8-0 in the No. 1 singles’ match. Scott McClure of Westminster defeated Andrew Parker 8-0 in the No. 2 singles’ match.

Bobby Skelton of Westminster defeated Trevor Hearing 8-1 in the No. 3 singles’ match. Robert Mann of Westminster defeated Yancey Crew 8-6 in the No. 4 singles’ match.

Daniel Hughes of Westminster fell to Wilson Glaze 9-7 in the No. 5 singles’ match. Drew Parker of Westminster defeated William Jackson 8-6 in the No. 6 singles’ match.

Mark and Scott McClure won their No.1 doubles’ match 8-4. Skelton and Mann won their No. 2 doubles’ match.

Hughes and Parker dropped their No. 3 doubles’ match 8-6.
