Eagles finish fifth in state tournament

The Oak Mountain High School wrestling team finished fifth in the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A state tournament Feb. 18 at the Von Braun Center in Huntsville.
Two Eagles finished runner-up in their respective weight divisions in the state tournament.
Jared Godfrey of Oak Mountain finished runner-up in the 126-pound weight division. Godfrey dropped a 20-6 major decision to Jordan Simpson of Oxford in the 126-pound championship match.
Justin Woodall of Oak Mountain finished runner-up in the 195-pound weight division. Woodall dropped a 9-7 decision to Brian Walker of Grissom in the 195-pound title match.
Four other Oak Mountain wrestlers placed in the AHSAA Class 6A state tournament.
John David (J.D.) Peden of Oak Mountain came in fifth in the 106-pound weight division. Peden earned a 4-2 decision over Robbey Killough of Prattville in the fifth-place match.
Vincent Kimbrough of Oak Mountain finished fifth in the 170-pound weight division. Kimbrough won the 170-pound fifth-place match against Drew Smith of Gardendale by forfeit.
Evan Webb of Oak Mountain came in fifth in the 182-pound weight division. Webb pinned Garrett Wilson of Prattville in 4:31 in the 182-pound fifth-place match.
Lloyd Time of Oak Mountain finished fourth in the 220-pound weight division. Time dropped a 8-0 major decision against Mo Mills of Spain Park in the 220-pound third-place match.
