The Chelsea High School baseball team defeated Bibb County 9-6 in its season opener Feb. 20.

Eli Bashour led the Hornets (1-0) at the plate as he finished 2-for-2 with a double and drove in two runs.

Austin Dean, who drove in three runs, and Tripp Hobbs finished with a double each. Ross Ham and Keelan Gregg each went 1-for-2 at the plate and drove in a run.

Brody Holder and Cooper Page finished with a single each.

Hobbs didn’t allow a hit or a run and finished with five strikeouts in two innings on the mound.

Ham allowed one hit with five walks and two strikeouts in 3 2/3 innings on the mound. Joey Mock gave up six earned runs on two hits with five walks and a strikeout in 1 1/3 innings on the mound.
