Rebels sweep doubleheader with Macon East

The Coosa Valley Academy baseball team swept Macon East in a high school baseball doubleheader Feb. 20.

The Rebels defeated Macon East 10-5 in the opener.

Michael Mims led Coosa Valley (2-2) with two hits while driving in four runs in the victory.

Steven Cryer added two hits and an RBI. Tyler Hickman also had two hits in the win.

Jake Carter finished with one hit and drove in two runs. Preston Parker added one hit and one RBI. Cody Wood, who drove in one run, and Allen Logan finished with one hit each.

Logan earned the win on the mound after giving up two earned runs on four hits with two strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. Hunter Winslett didn’t allow a run or a hit in the final 2/3 of an inning.

Coosa Valley won the nightcap, 6-1.

Cryer led the Rebels with two hits and an RBI.

Winslett and Logan added two hits each. Wood and Garrett McMillan finished with one hit each.

Carter earned the win on the mound after giving up one run, unearned, on two hits with four strikeouts inĀ  4 2/3 innings.

Austin Tatum recorded two strikeouts in 1 1/3 innings in relief. Winslett struck out three batters in the final inning.
