Panthers top Homewood in softball opener

The Pelham High School softball team defeated Homewood 16-0 in its season-opening game Feb. 21.
Mary Morgan Dramer and Lindsey Pyle led the Panthers (1-0) with four hits each in the victory.
Dramer finished 4-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs and three runs scored. Pyle went 4-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and three runs scored.
Kristian Foster finished 3-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored. Madi Walker went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Jennifer Davis finished 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. Emily Spain went 2-for-3 and scored a run.
Whitney Gillespie finished 1-for-3 and scored one run. Erin Whitman went 1-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. Becky Fox finished 1-for-3 at the plate.
Davis earned the win in the circle after giving up just three hits with 10 strikeouts and a walk in a complete-game shutout in five innings.
