Opal Vernice Stoudenmire, age 88, a resident of Wilsonville, died on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012. Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Friday, Feb. 24, 2012 at Wilsonville Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Thomas, Rev. Frank Sims and Rev. Jim Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Wilsonville City Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Feb. 23, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at Wilsonville Baptist Church. Mrs. Stoudenmire worked in the Wilsonville Public Library, now known as The Vernice Stoudenmire Library for 50 years. She taught 2-year-olds for more than 60 years at Wilsonville Baptist Church.

Mrs. Stoudenmire is preceded in death by her husband, Sam H. Stoudenmire Jr.; parents, John F. Sr. and Vernon Helms; sisters, Johnnie Helms, Evelyn Helms, Katherine Lowery and Deane Seale. She is survived by her children, John Stoudenmire (Joyce), Wayne Stoudenmire (Kathy) and JoAn Harris (Randy); grandchildren, Penny Nason (Eric), Shane Stoudenmire (Brandy), Heath Stoudenmire (Danni), Sharon Foshee (Clete), Jason Harris, Johnathan Harris (Rachel) and Samantha Harris; nine great-grandchildren; brother, John F.
