The Shelby County High School softball team defeated Bibb County 3-2 in its season-opening game Feb. 23.

Kaitlin Paschall lifted the Wildcats (1-0) to victory with her solo homer in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Brittany Lansford blasted a two-run shot just before Paschall came up to the plate to tie the game at 2-2. Lansford’s homer brought home Courtney Shields, who singled earlier in the inning.

Paschall earned the win in the circle after giving up two runs on four hits with five strikeouts in a complete-game victory.
