Jaguars win three games in tournament

The Spain Park High School softball team won three games in the Hewitt-Trussville tournament Feb. 24-25.

The Jaguars defeated Leeds 11-0.

April Scott led Spain Park at the plate as she finished 3-for-4 with a homer and a double. Scott drove in four runs and scored one run.

DeKayla Sankey finished 3-for-3 and scored three runs. Madi Gipson went 2-for-3 with a double and scored two runs.

Haleigh Sisson earned the win in the circle after giving up just one hit with four strikeouts and three walks in five innings.

Spain Park defeated Mortimer Jordan 15-2.

Gipson finished 2-for-2 at the plate with two homers in the victory. Gipson drove in four runs and scored three runs.

Scott finished 2-for-2 with a triple. Scott also drove in one run and scored three runs. Mary Kathryn Bonamy, who drove in two runs and scored one run, finished 1-for-1 with a homer.

Sisson earned the win after giving up two runs, including one earned run, on three hits with two strikeouts and a walk in four innings.

The Jaguars edged Pell City 2-0.

Casey Craig led Spain Park at the plate as she went 1-for-2 with a homer. Craig drove in one run and scored one run.

Mary Beth Glass finished 1-for-2 at the plate and drove in one run.

Julie Knight earned the win on the circle after giving up just one hit with three strikeouts and three walks in five innings.

Spain Park fell to Clay-Chalkville 6-5 in the tournament.

Sankey finished 2-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs.

Craig, who drove in one run and scored one run, went 1-for-3 with a homer. Scott, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-3 with a double.

Sisson took the loss after giving up three earned runs on three hits with two strikeouts and a walk in three innings. Knight allowed one earned run on two hits with a strikeout and a walk in two innings.
