Lions sweep Northridge in doubleheader

The Briarwood Christian School baseball team swept Northridge in a high school baseball doubleheader Feb. 25.

The Lions defeated Northridge 8-0 in the opener.

Ben Craft led Briarwood Christian at the plate as he went 3-for-5 with a homer and a double. Craft drove in three runs and scored two runs.

Ethan Simmons finished 2-for-3 at the plate and scored a run. Tanner Cunningham finished 1-for-5 and scored two runs. Jake Bracewell went 1-for-4 with a double and drove in three runs.

Cameron Adams earned the win on the mound after pitching a complete-game one-hitter with seven strikeouts and two walks.

Briarwood Christian defeated Northridge 10-3 in the nightcap.

Simmons led the Lions at the plate after going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a triple. Simmons drove in five runs and scored one run.

Cunnungham added two hits, including a homer. Matthew Furuto and Cole Pearson also finished with two hits each. Craft and Tanner Gann added one hit each.

Will Brown earned the win on the mound after giving up two runs, including one earned run, on two hits with four strikeouts and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.

Jake Bracewell gave up one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts and a walk in 2 2/3 innings in relief.
