The Pelham High School boys’ soccer team defeated Hoover 2-1 in high school soccer action Feb. 24.

Jovany Saavedra scored the game-winning goal in a penalty-kick shootout for the Panthers at the end of the overtime session.

Andres Melendez scored the Panthers’ first goal in the match in the 21st minute.

Karsten Hicks and Ryan Tapley also scored goals during the penalty-kick shootout session.
