Panthers win Trojan Classic

The Pelham High School softball team finished undefeated in five games on its way to the Trojan Classic tournament championship Feb. 25 in Huntsville.

Pelham defeated Florence 7-1.

Caitlin Sapp and Emily Spain led the Panthers at the plate with three hits each. Kristen Foster, Erin Whitman and Madi Walker finished with two hits each. Gillespie, who drove in three runs, Lindsey Pyle and Becky Fox finished with one hit each.

Jennifer Davis earned the win in the circle after giving up just one run on five hits with seven strikeouts in a complete game.

Pelham defeated Scottsboro 5-0.

Pyle, Whitman and Gillespie led the Panthers with two hits each in the victory. Foster and Mary Morgan Dramer added one hit each.

Gillespie earned the win after giving up five hits with 10 strikeouts and two walks in a complete-game shutout.

Pelham defeated Athens 7-0.

Sapp led the Panthers with three hits.

Whitman added two hits. Dramer, Foster, Gillespie, Walker and Fox added one hit each.

Fox earned the win after giving up two hits with three strikeouts and three walks in three innings. Gillespie struck out four batters and allowed three hits in three innings in relief.

Pelham defeated Holly Pond 6-0.

Dramer and Sapp led the Panthers with two hits each. Foster, Walker and Spain finished with one hit each.

Spain earned the win after giving up just one hit with eight strikeouts in four innings.

Pelham edged Buckhorn 1-0.

Dramer, Gillespie and Fox finished with one hit each.

Fox earned the win in the mound after giving up just one hit with one strikeout in a complete game.
