Rebels win softball tournament title

The Coosa Valley Academy softball team won all three games in its tournament Feb. 25.
The Rebels defeated Bessemer Academy 14-4 in its opening game.
Hope Myrick led Coosa Valley at the plate after going 3-for-3 with a single and two doubles.
Carlee Yarnell finished 2-for-2 with a single and a triple. Danielle Richardson finished 2-for-3 with two singles and a triple. Hannah Vick went 2-for-3 with two singles.
Kaylan Rich, Kala Shaw, Allison Craft and Jessica Parris finished with one hit each.
Alyssa Holmes, who went 1-for-2 with a single, earned the win in the circle after striking out four batters.
Coosa Valley defeated Bessemer Academy 9-6 in its second game.
Craft led the Rebels by going 3-for-3 with a homer. Parris and Shaw each went 3-for-4 at the plate.
Terry Sprayberry and Vick finished with two hits. Myrick and Yarnell added one hit each.
Vick went the distance in the circle after striking out nine batters in a complete game.
The Rebels edged Springwood 12-11 in its final game.
Parris led Coosa Valley with a 2-for-4 performance at the plate with a double.
Hurt, Craft, Vick, Sprayberry and Richardson added two hits each. Myrick, Shaw and Yarnell finished with one hit each.
Vick earned the win in the circle after striking out six batters in a complete-game victory.
