Briarwood Christian defeats Hewitt-Trussville


The Briarwood Christian School baseball team defeated Hewitt-Trussville 6-4 in high school baseball action Feb. 28.

Brayden Housel led the Lions (6-1) at the plate as he finished 2-for-4 and scored two runs.

Tanner Cunningham finished with two doubles and one stolen base. Will Dyson went 1-for-4 and drove in two runs.

Matthew Furuto finished 1-for-3 and scored a run. Cole Pearson went 1-for-5 at the plate.

Barnes Bankston started on the mound and gave up four runs, including one earned run, on four hits with a strikeout and a walk in 4 2/3 innings.

Ethan Simmons earned the win after giving up just one hit with three strikeouts and a walk in 2 1/3 innings in relief.
