Chargers sweep doubleheader in tournament

The Cornerstone Christian School baseball team swept Morgan Academy and Autauga Academy in the Prattville Christian tournament March 1.

The Chargers defeated Morgan Academy 3-1 in their opening game in the tournament.

Auston Wingard led the Chargers at the plate as he finished with two hits and drove in three runs. After Chase Payne reached on an error and Austin Davis doubled, Wingard singled home the pair for the game-winning runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Davis and Dalton Lodge each went 1-for-3.

Adrian Young started on the mound and gave up just three hits with a strikeout and two walks in three innings.

Hagan Joiner gave up just two hits with a strikeout in three innings in relief. Wingard earned the save after striking out two batters and issuing one walk in the final inning.

Cornerstone Christian defeated Autauga Academy 6-2 in the nightcap.

Payne led the Chargers at the plate as he went 3-for-3 with two doubles.

Young went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs.

Davis earned the win after giving up just three hits with five strikeouts in six innings.
