The Falcons used five pitchers during the seven-inning affair, with junior Kincaid Koehler earning the win to improve to 2-1 on the season.
Three of the Montevallo pitchers held the Tigers scoreless, including Koehler, junior Nathan Flanagan and sophomore Edward Brandsema. Koehler allowed just one hit over his two innings pitched, while Flanagan and Brandsema each held the Tigers hitless in two innings combined.
The Tigers’ pitching staff issued eight walks and hit five Montevallo batters for a combined 13 free bases. Montevallo had just 11 hits to score 20 runs, while West Alabama finished with five costly errors.
The Falcons will return to action Saturday, March 3 at noon as they travel to UNC-Pembroke for a Peach Belt Conference doubleheader.
