Marie Lucas age 81 of Montevallo passed away on Thursday, March 1, 2012 at her home. She was a longtime member of the Community Baptist Church in Brierfield. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Carl Melton and Ula Mae Melton; husband, Thomas Pat “Dude” Lucas; a daughter; two brothers; three sisters; and a grandson.

Her surviving relatives include a son, Gary Lucas (Beverly); daughters, Virginia Arthur (Delbert), Darlene Smitherman (Kenny), Patricia Boyd (Kenneth) and Donna Duncan; sisters, Jeanette Deason, Barbara Barnwell and Rebecca McDaniels; sister-in-law, Elizabeth Cannon; 19 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren; also by numerous nieces and nephews.

Her funeral services will be on Monday, March 5, 2012 at 2 p.m. in the Rockco Funeral Home Chapel with viewing two hour prior to her services. Burial will follow in the Reynolds Cemetery, Montevallo. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community Baptist Church in memory of Marie, 147 Abbey LN Brierfield, AL 35035.
