Eagles top Montevallo in tournament

The Calera High School softball team defeated Montevallo 13-6 in the Eagle Classic tournament March 3.

Jocelyn Davis led the Eagles as she went 2-for-2 at the plate and drove in two runs.

Shelby Clark finished 2-for-3 at the plate and scored two runs. Skyler Laird went 1-for-1 and scored three runs.

Katie Eiland, who drove in two runs and scored a run, went 1-for-3. Shelby Wright, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-1.

Anna Seabury, who drove in three runs and scored one run, went 1-for-2. Somer Roberson finished 1-for-2 and drove in a run. Samantha Smith also finished 1-for-2.

Katie Eiland earned the win in the circle after giving up five earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts and two walks in three innings.

Addie Edwards and Megan Dockery led Montevallo at the plate as each finished 2-for-2 and drove in a run. Edwards also scored two runs.

Kaylee Kornegay, who scored one run and drove in one run, went 1-for-2 at the plate. Erin Draper also scored a run.

Calera edged John Carroll Catholic 3-2 to finish undefeated in pool play.

Eiland finished 2-for-2 and scored a run. Roberson, who drove in one run and scored one run, finished 1-for-3. Kymber McGiboney also went 1-for-3 at the plate. Laird also drove in a run.

Roberson earned the win in the circle after giving up just two earned runs on six hits with two strikeouts and six walks in a complete-game victory.

The Eagles fell to McAdory 3-2 in nine innings in the championship bracket.

Clark led Calera at the plate as she went 2-for-5 and scored a run.

McGiboney and Davis, who drove in one run, each went 1-for-4 at the plate. Wright and Seabury finished 1-for-3. Laird scored a run.

Eiland gave up three earned runs on eight hits with two strikeouts.
