Rebels win softball tournament

The Coosa Valley Academy softball team claimed the Bessemer Academy tournament championship March 3.

Coosa Valley defeated Bessemer Academy 11-1 in the championship game.

Carlee Yarnell, Hope Myrick, Jessica Parris, Allison Craft, Kala Shaw and Shelby Hurt each recorded hits in the victory.

Alyssa Holmes earned the win in the circle after recording four strikeouts in a complete-game victory.

The Rebels defeated swept Pickens Academy to reach the championship game.

Coosa Valley defeated Pickens Academy 7-6 in its opening game.

Shaw and Hannah Vick led the Rebels at the plate as each finished 3-for-3. Myrick, Yarnell, Parris and Terrie Sprayberry added two hits each.

Hurt, Craft and Danielle Richardson finished with one hit each.

Holmes finished with two strikeouts in four innings. Vick recorded one strikeout in two innings in relief.

The Rebels defeated Pickens Academy 11-1 in the second game.

Yarnell, Parris, Craft, Hurt and Vick led Coosa Valley at the plate with two hits each. Sprayberry, Richardson, Amelia Ripley and Hannah Heath added one hit each.

Hurt recorded one strikeout in a complete-game victory in the circle.
