The Coosa Valley Academy baseball team wrapped up its trip to the Florida panhandle March 14 with a 10-0 win over Altha High School (Fla.) at Chipola College in Marianna, Fla.

Michael Mims led the Rebels (11-3) at the plate as he finished with two hits, including a double, and drove in one run.

Allen Logan finished with two hits and drove in two runs. Garrett McMillan also had two hits and drove in one run.

Tyler Hickman finished with a double and drove in one run. Preston Parker had one hit and drove in one run.

Cody Wood (3-0) earned the win on the mound after giving up just two hits with seven strikeouts in a five-inning complete-game victory.

Coosa Valley coach Bobby Hughes, who grew up on the Florida panhandle, said the trip was a good “bonding experience” for his team.

“We had a great time hanging out at the beach,” Hughes said. “It was a good trip. We played a lot of good teams.”
