Montevallo sweeps Vincent in baseball doubleheader

The Montevallo High School baseball team swept Vincent in a high school baseball doubleheader March 15.

The Bulldogs defeated Vincent 9-5 in the opener.

Chase Hamrick led the Bulldogs at the plate as he went 2-for-5 with a three-run homer.

David Shirah went 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in two runs. Zack Smith finished 2-for-3 and drove in one run. Trevor Chatham went 2-for-4 with a double.

Hamrick earned the win on the mound after giving up two unearned runs on two hits with three strikeouts and three walks in four innings. Shirah struck out five batters and gave up only three hits in three innings in relief.

Zack Baucom took the loss for Vincent after giving up seven runs on eight hits with three walks in four innings.

Montevallo defeated Vincent 14-1 in the nightcap.

Taylor Burr led the Bulldogs at the plate as he went 3-for-4 with a triple. Burr scored two runs and finished with two stolen bases in the victory.

Hamrick, who drove in two runs and scored three runs, went 2-for-4 with a pair of triples. Eric Smith finished with a triple and drove in two runs.

Chatham earned the win on the mound after giving up just one run on two hits with eight strikeouts in four innings.

Dylan Brown took the loss for Vincent after giving up five runs on seven hits with three strikeouts and four walks in three innings.
