Boy airlifted after being hit by truck

A 9-year-old boy was airlifted to Children’s Hospital with severe injuries shortly after 4 p.m. on March 26 after police said he was struck by a pickup truck on Hamilton Road.

According to a Pelham Police Department press release, officers and firefighters received a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle at about 4:07 p.m.

After emergency responders arrived, they discovered the child had been struck by a Ford pickup truck, read the release. Hamilton Road is off Chandalar Lane in the Chandalar subdivision.

The driver of the pickup truck, whose name was not released, was not injured in the incident, according to the press release.

As of March 26, the incident was being investigated by the police department’s Traffic Operations Unit.
