Hoover High School junior Marqu’es Webb recovered from the uncertainty of her mother’s lost job — and her family’s subsequent move to Hoover in summer 2011 — by breaking out in a big way on the Hoover girls’ basketball team this past season.
Webb, a forward who is considered one of the top national players in the class of 2013, helped lead the Lady Bucs to their second state championship in three years, along with several of her highly-recruited teammates — although some would say Hoover went into the tournament as an underdog.
