James “Beau” Verdo Kilgore III

James “Beau” Verdo Kilgore III, 38, of Pelham passed away suddenly while at work on Saturday, March 31, 2012. Beau was born in Atlanta, Ga., but had also resided in Germantown, Tenn., New Orleans, La., and was currently in Pelham. He graduated from Shades Valley High School and was also a student of Jefferson State Community College and Delgado Community College in New Orleans, La. Beau had been in the tire industry for the last 15 years. He was employed by American Tire Distributors for the last 7 years and had recently been promoted to the position of outside sales manager.
Beau was the son of the late James “Doodle” Verdo Kilgore Jr. and Lula “Lou” Griggs Kilgore of Pelham. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Leighann Burrell Kilgore, and his sister, Rachel Odelle Kilgore. He leaves behind a sister, Drucilla Martinez (Mauricio), nieces Kaitlin Marisa Bitz and Lucia (Luci) Rae Martinez, and nephews Corey Dell Kilgore and Alexander Diego Martinez. He will also be missed by a large family of aunts, uncles and cousins, as well as many friends and coworkers.
Beau had overcome many setbacks in his life, starting with his developing juvenile diabetes and being insulin dependent at the early age of 6. He also suffered the loss of his leg due to an accident and the death of both his wife and his sister, all in a three year period. Beau managed not only to carry on but was able to hold down a full-time job and be a caring brother and a loving, dependable son. He was also a loyal friend who enjoyed playing pool and was a passionate LSU football fan.
Services were held Tuesday, April 3 at 2 p.m. from the Norwood Funeral Home Chapel with burial at the Sulligent City Cemeter. Bro. Don Dollar officiated.
