Oak Mountain claims tennis title

The Oak Mountain High School boys’ tennis team claimed the Shelby County boys’ tennis tournament championship April 4 at the Pelham Tennis Center.

Preston Touliatos of Oak Mountain claimed the No. 1 singles’ championship in the tournament.

The Eagles racked up 54 points in the tournament, which edged second-place Briarwood Christian by 22 points.

Indian Springs recorded 26 points and finished in third place, while Pelham came in fourth in team standings with eight points.

Westminster School at Oak Mountain finished fifth with five points. Thompson came in sixth in team standings with four points. Chelsea, which didn’t record any points, finished seventh overall.

Touliatos defeated Ben Goodman of Indian Springs in the No. 1 singles’ championship match. Russell Hancock of Briarwood Christian defeated Kyle Ehlers of Oak Mountain in the No. 2 singles’ championship match.

Hunter Dodson of Oak Mountain defeated Phillip Taylor of Briarwood Christian in the No. 3 singles’ championship match. Kody Ehlers of Oak Mountain defeated Ethan White of Indian Springs in the No. 4 singles’ championship match.

J.K. Keasler of Oak Mountain defeated Lukas Castellanos of Briarwood Christian in the No. 5 singles’ championship match. Connor Brewton of Briarwood Christian defeated Joseph Alderetti of Pelham in the No. 6 singles’ championship match.

Jacob Thigpen and John Canfield of Indian Springs defeated Preston Touliatos and Hunter Dodson of Oak Mountain in the No. 1 doubles’ championship match. Kyle Ehlers and Kody Ehlers of Oak Mountain defeated Ben Goodman and Ethan White of Indian Springs in the No. 2 doubles’ match.

J.K. Keasler and Brian Deason of Oak Mountain defeated Lukas Castellanos and Connor Brewton of Briarwood Christian in the No. 3 doubles’ championship match.
