Braves blank Falcons in tennis match

The University of Montevallo women’s tennis team continued its struggles in Peach Belt Conference play with a 9-0 loss at home April 6 against UNC-Pembroke.
The Falcons came close to winning the No. 2 doubles’ match as senior Helene Nordgreen and junior Lauren Blair came up just short, falling 9-7.
The Falcons’ No. 1 doubles’ team and No. 3 doubles’ team each fell 8-3.
Nordgreen had the closest singles’ match as she fell 6-3, 6-2 in the No. 2 singles’ match. Every Falcon won at least a game in singles’ matches, including junior Amy McGucken and Yula Shevetsova, who won three games each in the No. 5 singles’ match and No. 6 singles’ match, respectively.
The Falcons will return to action this Tuesday, April 10 at 1 p.m. as they host Augusta State University in Peach Belt Conference action.
