Vendors from all over Shelby County will be selling everything from fresh produce to antiques April 14-15 at the year’s first community yard sale and trade day at Columbiana’s Summer Classics property.

The event will begin at 7 a.m. both days, and will last as long as the vendors stay on site, said event organizer Randy Glenn.

This weekend will serve as a model for the event for the rest of the year, Glenn said.

“We do our farmers market every Saturday of the month, but we are going to add the yard sale and trade day the second Saturday of each month,” Glenn said.

Glenn organized two community yard sales and trade days in 2011, each of which drew about 30 vendors, he said.

“I’ve already talked to about 40 yard sale vendors for this one,” Glenn said on April 9, noting many of the vendors who will be at the Columbiana sale also regularly sell at trade days at venues such as Tannehill Ironworks State Park.

“We want to invite everyone to come out and sell their items,” Glenn said. “Right now, we aren’t charging a vendor fee, so you can just bring your table and set up early on Saturday morning.”
