Eagles sweep doubleheader

The Oak Mountain High School baseball team swept Etowah and Springville in a doubleheader April 7 in high school baseball action.

The Eagles defeated Etowah 8-1.

Richard Greene led Oak Mountain offensively as he finished 3-for-3 with a double. Greene drove in one run and scored one run in the victory.

Cameron Bice finished 1-for-3 at the plate. Bice blasted a solo homer in the first inning.

Heath Quinn went 2-for-3 at the plate and scored three runs. Connor O’Brien finished 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in one run.

Wesley Nail earned the win on the mound after giving up one unearned run on four hits with six strikeouts and two walks in a complete-game victory.

Oak Mountain edged Springville 5-4.

Greene led the Eagles offensively as he finished 2-for-3 at the plate. Greene drove in one run and scored one run in the win.

O’Brien finished 2-for-3 at the plate and scored one run. Quinn went 1-for-3 at the plate with a double and scored one run.

Bice earned the win on the mound after recording two strikeouts and one walk while giving up three hits in three scoreless innings in relief.
