FROM STAFF REPORTS

The Shelby County Drug Enforcement Task Force recently launched a new website to help teach citizens about the dangers of drug use.

Citizens can also use the website, which can be accessed at Dtf.shelbyal.com, to report illegal drug activity in their communities.

The website will have information on various types of drugs commonly found in Shelby County, as well as information about the Drug Task Force.

Drug Task Force Commander Lt. Kevin Turner said the site is another weapon in the war against drugs.

“This site is one more resource for us to use to combat drug use in the county. It allows us the opportunity to educate our community about drug use and awareness and makes (the task force) more accessible to the citizens,” Turner said. “I would like to thank the Shelby County IT services department for helping us develop and launch our website, as well as our board of directors for their support.”

The task force consists of law enforcement officers from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Alabaster Police Department, Pelham Police Department, Harpersville Police Department, Helena Police Department, the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office and the Alabama National Guard Counter Drug Program.

The Drug Task Force encourages citizens to report illegal activity by phone at 670-0436 or by visiting its website at Dtf.shelbyal.com.
