Alternative rock group Everclear will open up for country group Lonestar during the 10th-annual Alabaster CityFest, which will be held June 2 at the city’s Municipal Park.
Everclear, which is known for its chart-topping hits such as “I Will Buy you a New Life,” “Father of Mine” and “Wonderful,” will take the festival’s main stage at 7 p.m. before CityFest headliner Lonestar takes the stage at 9 p.m.
“It’s going to be a good show,” said Alabaster Arts Council President Adam Moseley.
Everclear is composed of lead singer and guitarist Art Alexakis, Dave French on guitar and backup vocals, Freddy Herrera on bass guitar and backup vocals, Josh Crawley on keyboard and backup vocals and Sean Winchester on drums and percussion.
Everclear’s latest album, “Welcome to the Drama Club” was released in 2006, and the band is set to release a new album, “Invisible Stars” later this year.
Everclear will be touring with Sugar Ray, Lit, the Gin Blossoms and Marcy Playground during the Summerland Tour 2012.
Also performing on the main stage will be Vallejo at 6 p.m., 2Blu and the Lucky Stiffs at 5 p.m. and Deputy 5 at 4 p.m.
On the CityFest day stage, Sanchez Tanniehill will perform at 10 a.m., Atticus Avenue will perform at 1 p.m. and Outshine will take the stage at 2 p.m.
Jim Aycock will perform on the Kidsfest stage from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Other musical acts are still to-be-announced, according to event organizers.
The event will also include a KidsFest area sponsored by Vic Smith CPA and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Alabama. KidsFest will feature inflatable games, a healthy food fair and field day games.
CityFest is organized each year by the Alabaster Arts Council, and Regions Bank is the event’s title sponsor.
