John Denzil Rowland Jr.

Montevallo

John Denzil Rowland Jr., 73, of Montevallo embraced his heavenly Father on April 19 after suffering a heart attack. John was an extraordinary man whose patience, kindness and sense of humor endeared him to everyone who knew him. His friendships with former classmates, E.C. Gaston Steam Plant co-workers, fellow antique car enthusiasts and members of Enon Baptist church, where he served as a deacon, were loyal and everlasting. John was a wise, devoted father and grandfather, who loved unconditionally, always made every moment special, and led by example.

John loved his wife of 26 years, Beatrice (Tucker), with all his heart and bragged to everyone that “she is a good woman who takes good care of me.” Second to his love for his family, was his love of the 1957 Chevy. A 30-year hobby of restoring and entering his “girls” in car shows both large and small earned him 35-plus awards, including “First in Class” and “Best of Show” at the World of Wheels.

His greatest love of all was for Lord. Many times he said he looked forward to meeting Jesus and talking to God. Although we miss him and wish he was still here, we find peace in knowing he is in Heaven today doing just that.

John is survived by his sister Susie (Williams); wife Beatrice (Tucker); daughter Cathy Brown (Max); sons Brad (Brandy) and John; and grandchildren Tucker, Beth-Anne, Cody and Courtney. Pastor Bill Trawick conducted the services at Enon Baptist Church of Montevallo on Sunday, April 22 at 2:30 p.m. Visitation was one hour before his service time. Interment followed in Enon Cemetery.
