The Oak Mountain High School girls’ soccer team advanced to the Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A Final Four after knocking off Grissom 3-2 in a quarterfinal match May 5.

Oak Mountain went down early in the 20th minute, but the Eagles responded in the 25th minute when Bailee Harnett took a shot that went off the Grissom keeper and Vicki Hill followed up with a rebound goal.

Two minutes into the second half, Harnett sent a corner kick across the box and Emma Roberson hit a laser shot into the net to give the Eagles a 2-1 lead.

In the 58th minute, Harnett dribbled by two defenders and sent a cross into the box, where Hill scored the game-clinching goal.

Grissom scored in the 65th minute to cut the deficit to 2-1, but Oak Mountain controlled the ball until the clock expired.

Oak Mountain goalkeeper Jill Hester recorded six saves in the match.
