When Marty Lovvorn, an Oxford native, started traveling to Shelby County to visit his roommate from college, the area immediately appealed to him.

While growing up in Oxford, Lovvorn and his family made frequent trips to the Birmingham area to shop, but Shelby County gained a new appeal after he graduated from Auburn University.

“It’s a real warm and welcoming area. I love all the communities around here,” Lovvorn said. “I get the same vibe here as I did in Auburn. Everyone here is like a family.”

So when Lovvorn, who also earned his doctorate of chiropractic degree from Life University, started looking to open his own chiropractic and rehabilitation practice, he already knew the perfect location.

In mid-April, Lovvorn opened Precision Chiropractic and Rehabilitation at 104 Owens Parkway in northern Pelham. Since then, Lovvorn said he has been working to help patients combat the root cause of their acute pain.

“I don’t subscribe to the idea of throwing some medicine at it and hoping it works,” he said.

Lovvorn’s practice includes digital X-ray diagnostics, a spinal decompression table, therapeutic ultrasounds and more. Lovvorn said he provides a free diagnostic for patients before working to build a treatment plan tailored to their needs.

“If you are in acute pain, we build a care plan for your individual needs,” Lovvorn said. “We don’t want you to have to set up an appointment with us every week for the rest of your life. We want to set a goal and then help you reach it.”

Lovvorn said many associate chiropractic offices with lower back pain, but he said many of his patients are battling neck and shoulder pain. He said many neck and shoulder pain cases are the result of having a poor posture while sitting at a computer at work.

Treatment at a chiropractic and rehabilitation clinic can “provide a safe alternative to surgery” for some patients, but Lovvorn said he has “no problem” referring patients to another physician if he believes they can better treat the patient.

“I care about your health just as much as you do,” he said.
