No injuries were reported after Shelby County Sheriff’s deputies said an intoxicated man crashed his pickup truck into the front of Lakeview Pelham’s United Methodist Church on May 14.

Stutzman

Deputies arrested 48-year-old Pelham resident Brian Edward Stutzman shortly after 3 p.m. at the church on Shelby County 11 on May 14 and charged him with driving under the influence and reckless endangerment.

The arrest came after officers said Stutzman crashed his grey Ford F-150 pickup truck into the church’s glass front doors, bringing the vehicle to rest in the church’s lobby.

According to Shelby County Jail records, Stutzman was released on May 15 on bonds totaling $1,500.

“Praise God no one was injured. Cleanup is almost complete, and repair is in progress,” read a post on the church’s website. “There are no event cancellations.”
