Montevallo adds to women’s basketball recruiting class

The University of Montevallo women’s basketball head coach Cindy Hilbrich announced the addition of Carolyn Taite for the upcoming 2012-2013 season.

With the addition of Taite, Hilbrich now has eight newcomers joining the squad next season.

Taite is a 6-foot post player from Tallevast, Fla., who will join the Falcons as a senior after two years at Northeast (Neb.) Community College and a season at Division I Jacksonville State University.

Taite saw action in 23 games for Jacksonville State last season while scoring eight points and grabbing 13 rebounds. She was a near-perfect 4-of-5 from the free-throw line.

While at NCC, she was named to the Nebraska Community College Athletic Association’s All-Conference team as a sophomore after guiding the Hawks to a 21-8 record. Her team reached the semifinals of the Region IX Tournament. She posted a double-double against McCook Community College with a 13 point, 13 rebound effort. She also scored 13 points and nine rebounds versus Southeast Community College.

Taite was an excellent student in the classroom at NCC, receiving Dean’s List honors and earning the Exemplary Academic Achievement Award by the National Junior College Athletic Association. Prior to college she prepped at Southeast High School in Tallevast, Florida. She was named First Team All-Area and was a member of the National Honor Society.
