Montevallo women’s soccer takes down West Georgia

CARROLLTON, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women’s soccer team improved to 2-0 on the season following a 3-2 win on the road Sept. 2 at the University of West Georgia.
The Falcons overcame a one-goal deficit to top their former Gulf South Conference rival.
“We’ve managed to dig out another win coming from behind,” said Montevallo women’s soccer coach Patricia Hughes. “We’ve had a great start to the season.”
Nicole Johnston scored the first goal for the Falcons off an assist by Taylor Kerr.
Nicola Stolworthy added the second goal for Montevallo off an assist by Johnston. Paige Scott capped the scoring for the Falcons with her goal assisted by Stolworthy.
Montevallo goalkeeper Kaitlin Thomas finished with three saves in the victory.
The Falcons return home to host Auburn University in Montgomery in their next match Sept. 7 at 7 p.m. at Varsity Field.
