Pelham tops Thompson for first win

ALABASTER – The Pelham Panther volleyball team picked up their first win of the season with a 25-16, 25-18, 26-24 sweep of county rival Thompson on Sept. 6.
Thompson’s Kelsea Bivins led all scorers with 10 kills in the match with Katie Guiser adding eight kills for the Warriors. August Newberry and Maria Falkner each tallied 10 digs for Thompson.
Caitland Smith led the Pelham (1-8) offense with nine kills with Bradleigh Smith contributing five kills for the Panthers. Autumn Wild-Hiett led the Panthers with seven digs while Haeden Tucker had five digs.
Both teams will return to action on Saturday at the Mid South Tournament at Thompson High School.
