DAHLONEGA, Ga. – The University of Montevallo women’s soccer team couldn’t overcome an early deficit in a 4-1 loss on the road at the University of North Georgia in a Peach Belt Conference match Oct. 3.

North Georgia took a 1-0 lead in the 21^st minute of the contest when Kelly Penston collected the ball near midfield before dribbling into the box and firing a shot past Montevallo goalkeeper Taylor Kerr.

North Georgia extended its lead to 2-0 in the 51^st minute of the match following a goal by Kayla Croom.

Junior forward Christine Prince answered quickly for the Falcons (4-6-1 overall, 1-4 in Peach Belt Conference) with a goal in the 54^th minute of the contest. Prince collected a rebound off her first shot attempt and fired a shot over the top of the North Georgia goalkeeper to cut the deficit to 2-1 early in the second half.

The Saints added another goal in the 69^th minute of the contest by Abby Trevino to push their lead to 3-1 midway through the second half. North Georgia pushed its lead to three goals following a penalty kick by Penston in the 81^st minute of the match.

Kerr, who made her first career start at goalkeeper for the Falcons, finished with seven saves in the match.

The Falcons return to action Oct. 6 with a home match against Peach Belt Conference foe Flagler College at 5 p.m. at Varsity Field.
